Dr. Margaret Kelleher is the incoming Professor of Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama in UCD. Her research interests lie on nineteenth-century literature, Irish literary and cultural history, famine studies, Irish women’s writings (historical and contemporary), contemporary Irish fiction, digital humanities and literary studies.
Margaret Kelleher博士即将成为都柏林大学院盎格鲁-爱尔兰文学和戏剧学院教授。她的研究兴趣包括以下几个方面:十九世纪文学、爱尔兰文学史和文化史、女性研究、爱尔兰女性文学、当代爱尔兰小说、数字人文学科和文学研究。

Introduction:
This lecture will outline current debates regarding the status of the humanities in Europe and will analyse the key challenges faced by the humanities in the twenty-first century public university. Topics to be discussed will include interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity; public and civic humanities as theory and practice; the role and impact of Horizon 2020; the position of early-career researchers in the humanities; and changing publication cultures in the humanities. The lecture will also review some recent publications on the subject of the value of the humanities, and will conclude with a discussion of emerging trends and opportunities.
